Public relations, also known as PR, is a set of strategies that together manage the way a brand or a company is presented in the public eye.

There’s an old saying: “Advertising is what you pay for; publicity is what you pray for.”

The key purpose of public relations is to persuade the public, employees, stakeholders, and investors to support a specific point of view that is in the favor of the company or brand’s benefits and it’s about its products, message, etc.

In other words, we can say that PR is a tool that handles the flow of information about a brand or oneself that gets to the public. Companies also generate  PR to attract investors besides maintaining a positive corporate image. In this respect, good PR is especially important for startups or rapidly expanding companies. 

The aim of PR is to promote the client and its products, but unlike advertisers, we persuade our external or internal audiences via unpaid or earned methods  PR differs from advertising in that PR attempts to represent a person or brand’s image in ways that will appear organic, such as generating good press from independent sources and recommending business decisions that will incur public support. The Princeton Review notes that: “A public relations specialist is an image shaper. Their job is to generate positive publicity for their client and enhance their reputation … They keep the public informed about the activity of government agencies, explain policy, and manage political campaigns. Public relations people working for a company may handle consumer relations, or the relationship between parts of the company such as the managers and employees, or different branch offices.”

Thus, according to the things mentioned above, there is no need to focus on PR’s importance anymore. PR can be used to protect, enhance or build reputations through the media, social media, or self-produced communications. So, as your brand starts growing, PR becomes a vital part of your path to success.
